The RIN Fellowship equips journalists to tackle the urgent issue of tropical rainforest destruction by investigating the financial incentives, illegal activities, and supply chains driving deforestation in the Amazon, Congo Basin, and Southeast Asia. Led by journalist Gustavo Faleiros and a skilled team, the fellowship supports individual and collaborative projects through training in investigative techniques, data analysis, and reporting methods to advance impactful journalism on deforestation.

Who can Apply For The Pulitzer Center 2025 Rainforest Investigations Network (RIN) Fellowship?
Additionally, the eligibility criteria include:
- Experienced investigative journalists with a proven track record covering the Amazon, Congo Basin, and Southeast Asia regions.
- Reporters based in countries outside the three main tropical rainforest regions—Amazon, Congo Basin, and Southeast Asia—may also apply but will need to focus their reporting during the fellowship on stories related to these regions.
- Staff or freelance journalists working on a wide range of platforms, including print, radio, video, and multimedia. Freelance reporters will need to have the support of a local or international newsroom that agrees to host them and publish the work they produce during the fellowship.
- Team players with the experience and/or ability to work collaboratively across newsrooms and borders.
- Reporters with a deep understanding of the scientific, environmental, social, legal, political, and commercial forces at play in deforestation and forest degradation around the world—and why this issue matters to our global well-being.
- Reporters willing to participate in outreach activities related to their investigations, such as meetings in communities and visits to schools and universities.

Selection Criteria:
- Statement of Purpose: Explain how the fellowship supports your career, why you’re a strong fit, and potential collaborative benefits (500 words).
- Project Proposal: Outline a specific investigative rainforest project, with evidence of pre-reporting and, if applicable, a cross-border plan (1,000 words).
- Published Work: Provide links to three impactful investigations from the past three years.
- Letter of Support: Submit a letter from an employer or newsroom supporting your work publication.
- References: Include three professional references (contacts or recommendation letters).
- Résumé/CV: Attach your current résumé or CV.
