#1. Fully Funded PhD Position in Sustainable Photofunctional Molecular Materials

Summary of PhD Program:

Photochemistry is an area of growing importance in modern chemistry to obtain sustainable energy solutions. Photoactive transition metal complexes based on ruthenium and iridium are extensively used in light-harvesting applications. Whilst featuring attractive photophysical properties, ruthenium and iridium belong to some of the rarest metals on Earth. The development of novel photoactive complexes based on Earth-abundant metals to replace those of the rare elements is therefore imperative for cheaper technologies and the green transition.

Qualifications:

We are looking for two candidates with strong interests in working on the boundary between synthetic chemistry and physical chemistry aiming at development of photoactive transition metal complexes based on first-row transition metals.

The successful candidates will hold an MSc in Chemistry or a closely related area. Prior experience of synthetic organometallic/coordination chemistry is essential. Experience of characterization of paramagnetic systems, photophysical characterization, and familiarity with time-resolved spectroscopic techniques are desirable.

The candidates must be independent and fluent in English both oral and written.

#2. Fully Funded PhD Position in High-Throughput Proteomics Analysis of Environmental Stressors’ Impact on Health

Summary of PhD Program:

The project aims to gain deep mechanistic insights into how environmental stressors, such as air pollution, noise, particulate matter, ultrafine particles, and aeroallergens, affect health. We aim to identify the molecular pathways linking these environmental factors to chronic non-communicable diseases by focusing on the brain-heart axis.

The candidate will utilize high-throughput proteomics, redox proteomics, and phosphoproteomics to analyze samples from cells, mice, and human subjects. This research will be conducted in collaboration with project partners, providing a comprehensive approach to understanding exposure-triggered health outcomes and identifying potential intervention strategies.

Qualifications

A master’s degree in molecular biology, biochemistry, proteomics, or a related field.
Experience in high-throughput proteomics, mass spectrometry.
Strong data analysis and bioinformatics skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary research environment.

#3. Fully Funded PhD Position in Applied Mathematics

Summary of PhD Program:

The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at the University of Southern Denmark offers a full-time PhD position in the field of stochastic differential equations. The topic of the PhD project will be in the area of numerical analysis of stochastic differential equations including optimal control and applications in economy.

The successful candidate

holds a master’s degree in applied mathematics or mathematics-economics,
has documented experience in the fields of theory and numerical solution of partial and stochastic differential equations and corporate finance,
has excellent writing and oral skills in English and an ability to work independently.

#4. Fully Funded PhD Position in Quantum Chemistry

Summary of PhD Program:

We are looking for outstanding and highly-motivated candidates who has completed a BSc. degree (180 ECTS) and have additional 60 ECTS completed on their master’s degree in chemistry, preferably with specialization in physical and theoretical chemistry. Experience with theory development and implementation of quantum mechanical methods is an advantage. The candidate will join a dynamic and curiosity-driven research group and is expected to work in close collaboration with other research teams both at the Department and internationally.

Qualifications:
