The IOA Conference Scholarships offer financial support to sponsor individuals who would like to attend the IOA Conference. Through this scholarship initiative, IOA’s overall goal is to provide greater access to education in countries that IOA recognizes would greatly benefit from outreach, support, and development in the ombuds field.

When is the Application Deadline:

Applications for the 2025 IOA Conference scholarships closed on 10 October 2024. Applications received after this date will be considered for the 2026 Annual Conference.

Tell Me About The Award:

The IOA International Outreach Committee (IOC) offers financial support to sponsor individuals who would like to attend the IOA Conference. Applicants can be IOA members or prospective members who are working in a country where the organizational ombuds profession is not well developed. Through this scholarship initiative, IOA’s overall goal is to provide greater access to education in countries that IOA recognizes would greatly benefit from outreach, support, and development in the ombuds field.

This scholarship will cover the full cost of registration for the #IOA2025 event and up to $1,500 USD in travel expenses. Priority will be given to applicants whose participation can be instrumental in the advancement of the organizational ombuds profession in their regions/countries.

Which Fields are Eligible:

Focused on individuals advancing or contributing to the field of organizational ombuds and related professions.

Type:

Conference participation scholarships (includes registration and partial travel support).

Who Can Apply:

For International Scholarships:

• Applicants must reside in countries outside the U.S. and Canada where the ombuds profession is underdeveloped.
• Applicants must demonstrate financial need.
• A reference with contact information is required.

How are Applicants Selected:

Applications are evaluated on:

1. Financial need.
2. Potential for the applicant’s participation to enhance the development of the organizational ombuds profession in their country or region.

Which Countries are Eligible:

All countries outside the U.S. and Canada.

Where will the Award be Taken:

The scholarship supports attendance at the IOA Annual Conference (location varies; details available closer to the event).

How Many Awards:

Two scholarships are awarded annually per category.
