The Funza Lushaka Bursary Program is a South African government initiative aimed at promoting teaching as a profession by providing financial assistance to deserving students. It supports students pursuing either a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) degree or a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) in priority subject areas, which are identified as critical to the education sector. This fully funded bursary covers essential expenses such as tuition, accommodation, books, and a teaching practice laptop, helping to ease the financial burden on future educators.

Who can Apply For The Funza Lushaka Bursary Program?

Also, to be eligible for the bursary program, ensure you meet the following criteria:

• Applicants must be South African citizens with a valid South African ID number.
• Candidates must be 30 years or younger.
• Applicants must demonstrate good academic ability.
• Applicants must be accepted into an approved B.Ed. or PGCE programme specialising in two or more priority subject areas.
• The bursary does not fund extended programmes or students already holding a teaching qualification.
• Higher Education Institution employees, their spouses, and their dependents are not eligible.
• Applicants with a criminal record, misconduct charges, or dismissal from work are ineligible

• Valid South African ID document.
• Proof of admission to an approved B.Ed. or PGCE programme.
