For post-graduate students and recent graduates with advanced university degrees who want to obtain real-world experience and a greater understanding of the multilateral trading system, the WTO Secretariat offers three internship programs. There aren’t many of these internships available. Selections for internships are made on the basis of knowledge, academic credentials, eligibility requirements, and merit.

Tell Me About The Internship:
The WTO Internship Program offers post-graduate students and recent graduates the opportunity to gain hands-on experience and deeper knowledge of the multilateral trading system. Three internship streams are available:
- WTO Internship Program – Open to all WTO member states and observer governments.
- China’s LDCs, Accessions, and General Internship Program – Reserved for post-graduates from developing countries and least-developed countries (LDCs).
- WTO Support Programme for Doctoral Studies – For PhD students from developing countries and LDCs working on their thesis.Which Fields are Eligible?

Who Can Apply?
- Nationals of WTO member states or observer governments.
- Post-graduate students or recent graduates who have completed at least one year of postgraduate study.
- Applicants aged 21 to 30 years.
How Are Applicants Selected?
Selection is based on:
- Academic qualifications.
- Relevance of expertise to the WTO’s work.
- Alignment with eligibility criteria.
Which Countries Are Eligible?
Open to nationals of all WTO member states and observer governments.

What is the Benefit of the Internship?
- Stipend:
- CHF 60 per day for general internships.
- CHF 90 per day for the China’s LDCs, Accessions Program.
- Hands-on experience in international trade operations.
- Networking opportunities within the WTO.

A duration of 3 to 6 months.
