Tell Me About The Maynooth University PhD Scholarship:

The ICARUS Climate Research Centre at Maynooth University (Ollscoil Mhá Nuad) announces a PhD Scholarship for one student intending to commence their studies in September 2025. This scholarship is part of a project funded by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) from 2025 to 2029, focusing on event attribution for the island of Ireland. The research will apply established techniques from the World Weather Attribution (WWA) group to retrospectively analyze significant Irish climatic extremes from the past decade, aiming to understand how human-induced climate change has affected these events. The successful candidate will collaborate with Prof. Peter Thorne, a senior postdoctoral researcher, colleagues across ICARUS, and the WWA group at Imperial College London. The student will also engage in broader activities, including community engagement and outreach.
