In partnership with the British Council and the GREAT Britain Campaign, the University of Kent is offering 7 scholarships of £10,000 to students from China, France, Kenya, Malaysia, Nigeria, Thailand, and Turkey, applying for one-year taught postgraduate courses based at our UK campuses. The award will go towards one year of tuition fees. The GREAT Scholarships 2025 programme supports doctoral students worldwide to access world-class UK higher education opportunities.

Applicants must:
- Be citizens and residents of China, France, Kenya, Malaysia, Nigeria, Thailand, or Turkey.
- Be classified as overseas fee payers.
- Hold and accept a conditional offer for a full-time, one-year postgraduate course starting in September 2025.
- Demonstrate active engagement in their field through work experience or proven interest.
- Be willing to act as an ambassador for UK higher education and the GREAT brand.
- Commit to participating in academic, extracurricular, and networking activities.
How are Applicants Selected?
Selection is based on:
- Meeting eligibility criteria.
- The quality of the submitted 500-word essay discussing a previous academic topic of interest.
- The applicant’s motivation, engagement in their field, and commitment to the scholarship’s values.

How to Apply:
Applications for the British Council GREAT scholarship should be made via your applicant portal. You will only be able to apply for the GREAT Scholarship once you have received an offer for your programme from the University of Kent.
In order to be considered for this award, you will need to submit the following:
- an essay of no more than 500 words about a topic you have studied previously and why you found it interesting. This topic should be related to or have inspired you to apply for your chosen degree programme.
