Tell Me About The UCL Creative Fellowships:
The UCL 2025 Creative Fellowships, part of the Encounters program, aim to foster collaboration between creative practitioners and UCL academics to explore the intersections of creative practice and research. This year, the program invites applicants to engage with the theme “Knowledge Futures in the Age of AI”, offering an open-ended exploration of how creativity operates as a form of knowing, discovering, and innovating. The program has been running since 2019 and is designed to promote the value of creative practice in knowledge creation and transformation.

The program focuses on the following creative fields:
- Performance
- Creative Writing
- Visual Arts
- Media

Who can Apply for the UCL Creative Fellowships?
Also, the Fellowships are open to:
- Creative practitioners from any field.
- Individuals interested in working in a university setting to explore shared interests in creative humanities.
- Applicants do not need prior experience working with universities, and UCL provides support to help Fellows engage meaningfully with academic communities.
How are Applicants Selected?
Applicants will be selected based on:
- Their ability to creatively respond to the theme “Knowledge Futures in the Age of AI.”
- Interest in interdisciplinary collaboration with UCL researchers and students.
- The potential of their creative practice to contribute to knowledge creation or disruption.
Fellows must demonstrate a willingness to experiment and plan/deliver at least two events for UCL staff, students, or the wider public.

How Many Awards?
A total of four Fellowships are available for 2025:
- One linked to Music Futures.
- One linked to Art Futures.
- Two for work with members of ARIEL or other UCL research centers or networks.
What is the Benefit of the UCL Creative Fellowships?
Additionally, the Fellowships provide:
- A grant of £5,000 to support creative practice and collaborative research.
- Opportunities to engage with UCL academics and students to explore shared interests.
- Freedom to experiment and deliver events such as seminars, creative workshops, and performances.
- Access to UCL networks like Music Futures, Art Futures, and ARIEL.
How Long Will the Award Last?
