Tell Me About The FAO Hungarian Government Scholarship Program:
The FAO–Hungarian Government Scholarship Program 2025–2026 is a collaborative initiative between the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations and the Hungarian Government. It aims to provide young professionals from eligible countries with access to advanced studies in agricultural sciences. The program offers fully funded scholarships for Master of Science degree courses in Aquaculture and Animal Husbandry Engineering, taught in English. This program fosters capacity building in the agricultural sector to support global food security, sustainable development, and environmental management. All costs are covered by the Hungarian Government, as per the agreement with FAO since 2007.

The scholarship is available for the following fields:
- Master in Aquaculture – Hungarian University of Agriculture and Life Sciences, Szent István Campus, Gödöllő.
- Master in Animal Husbandry Engineering – University of Debrecen, Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences and Environmental Management, Debrecen.

Who can Apply For The FAO Hungarian Government Scholarship Program?
Additionally, to be eligible, applicants must:
- Be citizens and residents of one of the listed eligible countries.
- Have excellent academic achievements.
- Demonstrate English language proficiency for courses taught in English.
- Show strong motivation for pursuing the program.
- Be in good health.
- Preferably be under the age of 30.
How are Applicants Selected?
The selection process occurs in two phases:
- Phase 1:
- FAO pre-screens candidates and submits applications to the Ministry of Agriculture of Hungary.
- Only complete applications will be considered.
- Phase 2:
- Candidates may undergo written or oral English examinations as part of the admission process.
- Universities perform further selection based on academic merit, motivation, and other eligibility criteria.
Final selection is made by the Universities, and successful candidates are notified by the Ministry.
