Who can Apply For The Henan University Chinese Government Scholarship?

Also, To be eligible, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Citizenship: Open to non-Chinese citizens in good health.
  • Education and Age Requirements: Applicants for master’s degrees must hold a bachelor’s degree, have excellent academic performance, and be under the age of 35.
  • Applicants for doctoral degrees must hold a master’s degree or higher and be under the age of 40.

Language Proficiency: For Chinese-taught programs: Applicants must achieve at least HSK Level 4.

  • For English-taught programs:
    • If English is the native or official language, no test scores are required.
    • Non-native English speakers must have an IELTS score of 6.5 or a TOEFL score of 86 or above.

How are Applicants Selected?

Applicants are selected through a multi-step review process:

  • Preliminary review by the School of International Education (SIE) at Henan University, focusing on academic background, language proficiency, health status, and qualifications.
  • Academic review by Henan University’s education department, assessing academic performance, research ability, comprehensive quality, and development potential.
  • Final review by experts organized by the China Scholarship Council (CSC). The best candidates are selected based on academic performance, potential, and overall quality.

  • A copy of a valid passport.
  • Academic transcripts and diplomas (with notarized translations if not in English or Chinese).
  • Proof of language proficiency (HSK, IELTS, or TOEFL results).
  • Two letters of recommendation from professors or associate professors.
  • A study plan or research proposal.
  • Physical examination form.

  • Step 4: Henan University recommends shortlisted candidates to the China Scholarship Council for final review.
