The AI4D Africa Scholarship, supported by the African Centre for Technology Studies (ACTS), International Development Research Centre (IDRC), and Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA), provides funding for postgraduate studies in Artificial Intelligence (AI) focused on STEM disciplines addressing Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Artificial Intelligence fields such as machine learning, expert systems, natural language processing, intelligent robotics, and related areas.

Selection is based on academic credentials, quality of proposals, motivation, commitment to an academic career, and adherence to responsible AI practices. Distribution will aim for fairness in gender, region, and linguistic representation (Francophone and Lusophone).
Sub-Saharan African countries, including Angola, Benin, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cameroon, the Central African Republic, Chad, Comoros, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Congo (Brazzaville), Côte d’Ivoire, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, Guinea-Bissau, Madagascar, Mali, Mozambique, Niger, Senegal, and Togo.
