The University of Glasgow offers a prestigious MRes/PhD in Economics Studentship under the Adam Smith Business School. This combined MRes/PhD training scheme is designed to give students a solid foundation in economics, starting with a two-year MRes program. Students who complete the MRes successfully with high academic performance will be given priority for admission to the PhD stage. The studentship includes full tuition coverage, an annual bursary, and additional research support throughout the five-year period, with an optional teaching component starting in year two.

Also, eligible applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Applicants must hold an offer for the MRes Economics program starting in September 2025.
  • Applicants must meet the university’s specific entry requirements for the MRes Economics program.
  • Open to international applicants from eligible countries (listed below).
  • Applicants must have a strong academic record, including previous qualifications in economics or a related field.
