Tell Me About The CDI Orange Corners Designs Program:
The Orange Corners Designs program is a 12-month intensive initiative designed to support 20 innovative businesses based in Cape Town, South Africa. The program focuses on entrepreneurs aged 18-35 whose businesses contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), covering sectors such as the circular/green economy, digital sector, agriculture, and creative industries. Participants will gain access to workshops, mentorship, and business development tools, and may also qualify for prototyping grants and business loans of up to R1,000,000 through the Orange Corners Innovation Fund (OCIF). The program, led by the Craft and Design Institute (CDI) and supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands, is aimed at empowering young entrepreneurs to scale their businesses while creating job opportunities and driving positive social impact.

Who can Apply For The CDI Orange Corners Designs Program?
Also, to qualify for the Orange Corners Designs Program, applicants must:
- Be South African citizens between the ages of 18-35 years.
- Own or manage an existing business with a demonstrable history and traction, OR provide credible market research showing viability if proposing a new product or innovation.
- Have a business that demonstrates innovation and contributes to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
- Show potential for scalability in terms of impact and job creation.
- Be willing and able to commit to the full 12-month program.
- Be registered with the Companies and Intellectual Property Commission (CIPC) or commit to registering.
- Complete the application form with all required business information.
- Preference will be given to women entrepreneurs, but all young entrepreneurs aged 18-35 are encouraged to apply.
How are Applicants Selected?
Applications will be assessed based on the following criteria:
- Innovation and unique value proposition of the business.
- Contribution to the SDGs and ability to address pressing needs or opportunities.
- Scalability potential in terms of business growth and job creation.
- Demonstrated business traction or strong market research for proposed innovations.
- Commitment to the full 12-month program.
- Preference for women entrepreneurs, though all young entrepreneurs aged 18-35 are welcome to apply.
