Tell Me About The Nigeria Malaria Modelling Fellowship:
The Nigeria Malaria Modelling Fellowship (MMF) is a specialized training initiative aimed at enhancing the mathematical modelling capacity of public health professionals in Nigeria. Funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF), the fellowship is a collaborative effort between Corona Management Systems (CMS), the National Malaria Elimination Programme (NMEP), the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC), and the World Health Organisation (WHO). Participants will receive training in malaria epidemiology, transmission dynamics, and modelling approaches that can support strategic planning and evaluation. The fellowship is fully funded and offers logistical support, particularly for female participants with children under 18 months.

- Public Health
- Epidemiology (including environmental, parasite, and veterinary epidemiology)
- Biostatistics
- Bioinformatics
- Applied Mathematics

Who can Apply for the Nigeria Malaria Modelling Fellowship?
- Only female candidates are encouraged to apply.
- Must hold a Masterโs degree or higher in public health, epidemiology, biostatistics, bioinformatics, or applied mathematics.
- Must have specialized training in malaria and other infectious disease control programs (especially graduates from accredited Field Epidemiology Training Programs).
- Must be affiliated with a Nigerian public institution working in One Health (human health, animal health, or environmental health).
- Must have at least three years of professional experience.
- Institutions must be willing to officially release candidates for scheduled physical training sessions in Abuja.
Desirable Candidates:
- Post-Docs and Junior Lecturers in Epidemiology and Biostatistics
- Public Health/Community Medicine Resident Doctors in Training
- Data management specialists from malaria programs, National Stop Transmission of Polio cohorts, Rapid Response Teams, or other emergency preparedness and response teams
- Monitoring and Evaluation staff working with quantitative data analysis in government ministries, departments, or agencies
How are Applicants Selected?
- Candidates will be assessed based on academic qualifications, professional experience, and alignment with the fellowship objectives.
- Priority will be given to candidates under 50 years old.
