The Doc Society Climate Story Fund supports compelling independent media storytelling and impact strategies that inspire audiences to envision and act on a just transition toward a more inclusive, equitable, and resilient future. This fund provides grants ranging from $50,000 to $125,000 to support late-production nonfiction projects and completed nonfiction and fiction projects seeking to implement an impact pilot. By amplifying powerful climate stories, the fund aims to activate global audiences and catalyze meaningful change that integrates environmental restoration, social justice, political accountability, ethical migration policies, and the responsible use of technology.

Who can Apply for The Doc Society 2025 Climate Story Fund?

Also, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Projects must be climate-themed, with clear impact goals and a plan to expand, explore, and implement them.
  • The fund supports nonfiction projects in late production and completed nonfiction and fiction projects looking to implement an impact pilot.
  • Eligible formats include long-form, shorts, episodic and animation films, podcasts, and radio documentaries.
  • The project must be the original work of an independent storyteller who holds the copyright and has full artistic, budgetary, and editorial control. Projects directed by a third party (e.g., a broadcaster, university, foundation, or nonprofit) are not eligible.
  • To qualify for production funding, projects must complete production within one year of receiving the grant.
  • To qualify for impact funding, projects must implement an impact pilot within one year of receiving the grant.
  • The project must have secured financial support from at least one active funder.
  • Applicants must be 18 years or older.
  • Applicants from anywhere in the world can apply.
  • Applicants do not need nonprofit status or fiscal sponsorship.
