The RAF Fellowship is a prestigious program designed to support full-time working journalists from developing countries and economies in transition. The fellowship provides an opportunity to cover the UN and its priority issues while participating in a series of briefings and discussions. Who can Apply for the UN Reham Al-Farra Memorial Journalists Fellowship?
To be eligible, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Full-time working journalists between the ages of 22 and 35.
- Citizens of eligible developing countries or economies in transition.
- Freelance journalists are eligible but must provide strong work samples.
- Applicants must demonstrate proficiency in English, as it is the primary language of communication during the program.
- Journalism students and non-journalists are not eligible.
How are Applicants Selected?
- Selection is based on the strength and relevance of the applicant’s portfolio to the UN and its priority issues.
- Audience reach is considered in the selection process.
- Geographic diversity and gender parity are taken into account.

Applicants are also to submit the following documents:
- At least six (6) work samples related to the UN and its priority issues, published within the last six months.
- CV in English or French.
- Completed application form with strong responses to relevant questions.
- Two reference letters.
- For television/radio journalists, work samples must be submitted via a publicly accessible link or a file-sharing platform.
