About UNESCO APCEIU Youth Leadership Workshop Award: The UNESCO Asia-Pacific Centre of Education for International Understanding (APCEIU) and the UNESCO Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Education for Peace and Sustainable Development (MGIEP), in partnership with the GCED Youth Network, invite passionate youth leaders to apply for the 11th Youth Leadership Workshop on GCED.
This workshop aims to empower young leaders by integrating Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) into Global Citizenship Education (GCED), equipping them with essential skills to promote peace, resilience, and sustainability in their communities. Participants will engage in discussions, interactive activities, and networking opportunities to deepen their understanding of GCED and SEL as transformative tools for global change.
Objectives
- To foster a deeper understanding of GCED as a transformative tool for addressing global challenges and building peace
- To equip youth leaders with SEL skills to promote empathy, resilience, compassion, and collaboration in their communities
- To enhance participantsโ capacity to carry out GCED activities in their local contexts
- To help participants build and strengthen their networks in GCED
Expected Outcomes
- Enhanced SEL skills and a deeper understanding of GCED as a framework for fostering peace and sustainability
- Concrete action plans for community-based projects
- Networking experience with youth leaders around the world and mentorship opportunities
- Development as young leaders in the field of GCED

Type: Workshop
Eligibility:ย Participants will be selected on the basis of their previous experiences, present engagement and future commitment in educating and engaging with youth for the promotion of global citizenship at the localย and national levels. Applicants should meet the following requirements:
1. Between 18 and 24 years of age
2. Citizens of the Official Development Aid (ODA) recipient countries
3. Minimum 2 years of active experience in youth activities
4. Knowledgeable in GCED related issues and priorities
5. Proficiency in spoken and written English
Number of Awards: 50 participants from open application
Value of Award: Travel expenses and Workshop fees will be covered by APCEIU for the selected participants (participants will be responsible for the domestic travel expenses and visa fees in their own countries).
Duration of Program:
- Pre Workshop: 1 -3 April 2025 (3 days, Online)
- Main Workshop:ย 14 โ 17 April 2025 (4 days, Offline (New Delhi, India))
- Mentorship:ย May โ June (6 weeks, Online)
- Exclusively for selected participants only
- Only those who have completed the main workshop and received a certificate of completion from UNESCO APCEIU and MGIEP will be eligible to apply for the mentorship programme.

- Selection Announcement:ย Email notification in the form of invitation letters will be sent by 27 February 2025 (KST).
- Registration:ย Upon receiving the invitation letter, all selected participants must register byย 2 March 2025 (KST)ย at the latest. The registration link will be provided in the invitation letter.
- Late registration cannot be accepted and will be considered a cancellation of participation.
- In case of cancellation, the participation invitation will be forwarded to the next applicant on the waiting list
