This year marks the 21st time the International Children’s Peace Prize will be awarded to a young changemaker who is fighting courageously for children’s rights. Launched by KidsRights during the 2005 World Summit of Nobel Peace Laureates in Rome, the International Children’s Peace Prize is presented every year by a Nobel Peace Laureate. The previous laureates include outstanding young changemakers such as Malala Yousafzai and Greta Thunberg to name a few.

Last year, we celebrated the 20th jubilee of the International Children’s Peace Prize with an incredible ceremony that reunited the previous laureates. Nila Ibrahimi won the International Children’s Peace Prize 2024 for standing up for the rights of girls in Afghanistan. She had spearheaded a global singing movement with her powerful protest song ‘Go to School’ to oppose the ban on school girls singing. During the ceremony, Nila’s message reached more than 3.8 billion people worldwide with widespread media coverage, including BBC and CNN, showcasing the prize’s power in inspiring young changemakers to bring about tangible results.
