The ICTP Postgraduate Diploma Program is designed for young graduates who wish to pursue an intense, pre-PhD study program in physics, mathematics, or related fields. The program offers talented students from developing countries an opportunity to prepare for PhD studies, with many of its graduates advancing to prestigious universities and scientific institutions worldwide. The program has been running since 1991, with numerous alumni contributing to research and teaching in their home countries. The program is tuition-free and offers scholarships and travel grants to successful candidates from developing countries.

Who can Apply For The ICTP Postgraduate Diploma Scholarship?

Also, the eligibility criteria include:

• The program is open to young graduates, generally below 28 years old.
• Applicants must be from countries that are members of the United Nations, UNESCO, or IAEA.
• Applicants must have a degree equivalent to an MSc or an exceptionally good BSc in physics, mathematics, or a related field.
• Fluency in English, both written and spoken, is essential.
• Candidates must have knowledge of specific topics related to the field they are applying for.

Candidates are selected based on their university performance, academic recommendations, and specific knowledge in the relevant field. The selection committee strives for a balance in terms of academic excellence, gender representation, and geographical distribution.

In addition to completing an online application form, candidates should upload the following as part of their application:

• Copies of transcripts of university academic records and university degrees in English (The selected candidates will be required to provide originals or certified copies of these documents as well as of their official English translation before he/she can be admitted to the Programme);
• Any certificates or documents that give proof of the student’s ability to follow advanced-level courses, study and write scientific literature in the English language;
• Two letters of recommendation, from senior scientists familiar with the applicant’s studies and work.

The program is open to applicants from all countries that are members of the United Nations, UNESCO, or IAEA, with a particular emphasis on developing countries, especially those from the least developed regions of the world.
