Tell Me About The Media Foundation for West Africa (MFWA) Story Production Grants:
The Media Foundation for West Africa (MFWA) is offering story grants to journalists in Benin, Ghana, Nigeria, and Togo to produce high-quality, in-depth, and impactful stories on Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) and Digital Public Goods (DPGs). These grants are part of the second phase of the Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) Journalism Fellowship, which aims to support journalists in creating stories that enhance public understanding, stimulate policy debates, and drive positive change in the digital space. The initiative is funded in partnership with Co-Develop to empower journalists with the knowledge and resources needed to cover DPI and DPGs effectively.
Who can Apply for the Media Foundation for West Africa (MFWA) Story Production Grants?
Also, applicants are to meet the following criteria:
Must be a journalist working in one of the four project countries – Benin, Ghana, Nigeria and Togo
Must have a story idea on DPI/DPGs that have the potential to improve awareness; spark public and policy debates; and/or result in actions; statements or commitments from relevant stakeholders.
Must have a track record of producing impactful stories
Must have a letter of support from the journalist’s media house confirming the media outlet’s agreement to publish the stories that will be produced from the story grant.

Applicants must submit:
A story pitch outlining the topic, approach, potential sources, and expected impact
A budget proposal for story production
A signed consent letter from their media house
A confirmation of willingness to work with DPI Journalism Fellowship Editors
