The 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) registration date is still March 3, 2025, according to the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), and there are no intentions to extend it.

Professor Ishaq Oloyede, the Registrar of JAMB, clarified this during a monitoring exercise at multiple Computer-Based Test (CBT) facilities. Candidates who do not register by the deadline will not be accepted after the closing date, he warned, emphasizing that the registration process has been easy and effective.

Over 782,000 candidates have registered.

According to JAMB, 782,027 applicants had successfully registered for the UTME at 856 approved CBT locations across the country as of February 20, 2025. JAMB is on pace to register around two million candidates before the deadline, with over 80,000 registrations every day.

Candidates were urged to avoid last-minute rushes that can result in network congestion or registration problems, but JAMB reassured them that there is ample time for everyone to finish their registration before March 3.

No Extension of the UTME 2025 Deadline

Citing the easy registration process, Professor Oloyede ruled out the prospect of extending the deadline. He underlined that all applicants must register by the deadline; those who fail to do so would have to wait until the following exam session in 2026.

“We have made the process easier and more efficient this year. Candidates have ample time to register. There is no need for an extension because registration is moving at an excellent pace,” Oloyede said.

JAMB Advises Candidates to Steer Clear of Mistakes and Scams

In order to prevent fraudulent activities, JAMB has advised candidates to register using only authorized CBT centers. The board advised students to adhere to the official registration procedures and cautioned against outside agents who might attempt to take advantage of desperate applicants.

Additionally, candidates whose biometric information cannot be validated will not be permitted to take the test, according to JAMB’s strict biometric verification policy, which was also reiterated.
