The Eliza Moore Fellowship for Artistic Excellence is an annual award for one early-career artist exploring themes of plants, gardens, or landscapes. Open to visual artists, writers, dancers, and musicians, the award includes a $10,000 grant and a 2-5 week residency at Oak Spring Garden Foundation (OSGF). The Fellowship allows the artist to engage with staff, explore the 700-acre landscape, and access OSGF’s rare book library. The program encourages collaboration and learning through communal meals, optional activities, and field trips. At the end of the stay, Fellows may give a 20-30 minute presentation.

How are Applicants Selected?

- Resume/Curriculum Vitae (not exceeding two pages)
- 200-300 word statement on artistic practice
- 200-300 word statement on how the applicant’s work aligns with the OSGF mission
- Work samples:
- Visual artists: 5-10 images (include dimensions, year, medium, and title for each)
- Writers (creative non-fiction, fiction, essays): 7-10 pages demonstrating current interests
- Time-based artists (filmmakers, musicians, dancers): 10 minutes of work samples
- Poets and playwrights: 7-10 pages of poetry or scripts in standard formatting
