Who can apply for the Cancer Research Institute Postdoctoral Fellowships? 

The eligibility criteria include:

  • Applicants must identify as Black or African American, Hispanic or Latino, American Indian or Alaska Native, Native Hawaiian, or other Pacific Islander.
  • Individuals from socioeconomically disadvantaged populations or other underrepresented racial/ethnic groups may also apply, provided they can demonstrate their underrepresentation.
  • Both U.S. and non-U.S. citizens are eligible.

How are applicants selected?

  • Candidates will be selected based on their proposed research in immunology and tumor immunology, specifically aiming to understand the immune system’s role in cancer and its potential for immunological treatment.
  • A panel from CRI’s Scientific Advisory Council will evaluate candidates based on their background, project proposal, sponsor, and training environment.

Applicants are to submit the following: 

  • Application through CRI’s Application Portal.
  • CV and bibliography (NIH biosketch preferred).
  • Research proposal summary and specific aims (not exceeding 500 words each).
  • Detailed research proposal (up to four pages).
  • Letters of recommendation (two letters required, one from the thesis advisor and one from a person familiar with the applicant’s work).
  • Sponsor’s curriculum vitae and support details.
  • Abstract of research in non-technical English (max 250 words).
