The LSHTM First Generation Scholarship (Distance Learning) aims to support talented students from historically underrepresented backgrounds in higher education. As part of its commitment to widening participation and fostering diversity, LSHTM is offering two scholarships for students pursuing a distance learning MSc degree. The scholarship covers full tuition fees, ensuring that students can complete their master’s degree regardless of financial constraints.

Who can Apply for the London School of Hygiene LSHTM First Generation Scholarship?
Applicants must meet all of the following criteria:
- Meet minimum English language requirements.
- Hold an offer of admission for one of LSHTM’s six distance learning MSc programs for the 2025-26 academic year.
- Be the first in their family to enter higher education, meaning neither of their parents or guardians obtained a university degree (BA, BSc, or higher) before they turned 18.
- Must not already have a master’s degree or an equivalent/higher qualification (e.g., integrated master’s degree or PhD).
How are Applicants Selected?
Applications are assessed based on eligibility criteria, with preference given to applicants who belong to one or more of the following categories:
- Black ethnicity
- Care experienced
- Caregiver
- Disabled
- Estranged from family
- Refugee or asylum seeker
