Nigerians have received a reminder from the US about the repercussions of visa infractions.
The US mission in Nigeria stated on Monday that breaching travelers might face a permanent ban from entering the country in the future.
“Consular officers have full access to your immigration history and will know about past violations,” the statement added, warning that there is no such thing as an “honest mistake.”
“It is your responsibility to use your visa correctly,” the mission noted.

The restriction applies to all types of entry, including family vacations, business travel, and tourism.
Different US visa categories have different permitted time stays, which can be confirmed here.
Nonetheless, the F-visa categories for students and the B-visa categories for tourists and business travelers are the most popular choices for travelers.
US Vice President JD Vance had issued a warning as part of the immigration crackdown that visas could be canceled even if they were legitimate if the US decided the traveler’s stay did not serve the interests of the nation.
Vance pledged that as the US attempts to reduce its immigrant population, the number of deportations would increase.
