Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has declared that, as of March 25, 2025, additional Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) points for employment offers will no longer be awarded to Express Entry candidates.
In the past, applicants might increase their chances of being invited to apply (ITA) for permanent residence by earning up to 200 points for senior management positions and 50 points for other skilled occupations.
With this modification, employment offers will no longer earn additional CRS points, although they will still be eligible for several immigration programs.
The IRCC has not announced whether or when the points would be restored, but it refers to the withdrawal as a “temporary measure.”

Although the precise causes are unknown, potential causes include putting education, language, and work experience ahead of employer relationships; worries about the legitimacy of employment offers; and changing demands in the labor market.
The CRS scores of current Express Entry applicants who rely on job offer points will be affected immediately.
To remain competitive, future applicants must now concentrate on additional elements, including education, work experience in Canada, and language ability. Candidates who have previously received an ITA won’t be impacted.
Candidates can seek provincial nominations, improve their language abilities, obtain Canadian work experience, or take advantage of a spouse’s profile to raise their CRS ratings.
