The International Excellence Scholarship at the University of Leeds is designed to recognize and reward outstanding academic achievement among international students. This competitive scholarship provides tuition fee reductions of 10%, 25%, or 50% for students applying for a taught Master’s course starting in 2025.
Which Fields are Eligible?
Scholarships are available for students applying to taught Master’s programs in the following subject areas:
- Arts, Humanities, and Cultures
- Biological Sciences, Medicine, and Health
- Education, Social Sciences, and Law
- Engineering and Physical Sciences
- Environment
- Leeds University Business School

Who Can Apply?
To be eligible for the International Excellence Scholarship, applicants must:
- Be classified as an international student for tuition fee purposes.
- Have applied for an eligible taught Master’s course for 2025/26 entry (you can apply for the scholarship before receiving an admission offer).
- Be self-funding or partially funded (students with full sponsorship are not eligible).
- Hold or be predicted to achieve at least a 2:1 Honours Bachelor’s degree or international equivalent.
- Demonstrate excellent academic achievement, as well as strong professional or personal experience through extracurriculars or work history.
How are Applicants Selected?
Selection is based on:
- Academic excellence (Bachelor’s degree results or predicted grades).
- Work experience and extracurricular activities showcasing leadership, innovation, and commitment to the field of study.
- Personal statement demonstrating ambition, motivation, and how the course will help achieve career goals.

- Complete the scholarship application form by selecting your subject area:

Application Outcome:
- Applicants will be notified by Friday, 13 June 2025.
- If selected, you must accept the scholarship offer within the deadline stated in your scholarship letter.
