The Excellent Freshmen Scholarship is offered by East China Normal University (ECNU) to outstanding international students applying for full-time undergraduate programs. This scholarship aims to support academically excellent students and encourage global talent to study in China. While it does not cover tuition fees, recipients will receive a living allowance to support their first year of study.

Who can Apply For the ECNU Excellent Freshmen Scholarship?

The eligibility criteria include:

  • Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens and in good health. 
  • Excellent high school performance is a must.
  • The winner of all major competitions in China or abroad is preferred.
  • Applicants should not enjoy any other type of scholarship or fellowship at the same time.
  • Degree Requirement: Applicants for undergraduate program must have high school diploma and be under 25. 
  • Language Requirement: Applicants should have obtained HSK-5 certificate with the score of 180 above.

Step 1: Apply Online
  • Submit ECNU online application and pay application fee
  • Applicants should register and apply online through http://lxsapply.ecnu.edu.cn/. Submit online application and pay application fee.

Note

  • Application documents sent by email or fax are not accepted.
  • Incomplete applications with missing documents or failing to pay the application fee are not accepted. 
  • Application documents and application fee will not be returned or refunded regardless of admission status.
  • Applicants DO NOT need to send the hard copy of the application documents by post.
  • ECNU has the right to require applicants to provide original application materials or authentication documents issued by a designated institution for further inspection.
Step 2: Track Application Status Online
  • Check your email or log in to your ECNU online application account to track your application status.
  • * Make sure your email address is correct and check your email regularly to avoid missing IMPORTANT INFORMATION such as interview arrangements.
Step 3: Admission and University Enrollment
  • Adminssion results will be announced through the ECNU application account. Admitted students must register on time with the original graduation certificate and degree certificate. Registration will be canceled if failure to provide the original certificate.
