The Department of Basic Education (DBE) will collaborate with the Department of Employment and Labour (DEL) in the implementation of the Basic Education Employment Initiative (BEEI) Phase V, supported by the Industrial Development Corporation as the Implementing Agent to disburse stipends to beneficiaries.

Who can Apply?

The BEEI programme targets youth aged 18-34 turning 35 by the end of March 2026 to assist and support teaching and learning. This follows the successful implementation of Phases I โ€“ IV, implemented in 2020-2023, where more than 1.1 million job opportunities were created for youth. Phase Vโ€™s seek to create more than 200,000 job opportunities for youth placed in schools across the nine provinces. Provinces are preparing for implementation of Phase V.

The DBE will communicate formally through its platforms including media statements once the system is ready to launch. The DBE will be working with SAYouth.mobi for the recruitment of young people. This will be the only source for recruitment. Community members, especially the young people, are cautioned about scammers.

How to Apply:

To apply for the job opportunities on SAYouth.mobi does not cost any money or data. DBE would therefore like to encourage young people to register on SA Youth.mobi, if registered in the past, ensure that login details are renewed, ensuring readiness for the application process. Youth are also encouraged to go to the South African Police Services (SAPS) to apply for the Police Clearance Certificate (PCR), which will be required when shortlisted.

The BEEI Phase V continues to aim at providing youth with soft and hard skills required in the world of work. The soft skills that the youth will gain, will be immediately from day one, where schools will explain their school ethos, request youth to sign work contract and job descriptions, to manage their time as there school operates in specific times daily, communication skills as youth need to communicate with the school staff as well as learners on a daily basis, reading and writing skills, professionalism as the education ecosystem is characterised by โ€œProfessionalismโ€ as well as self- confidence and self-esteem.
