The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) of Japan offers scholarships to international students who wish to study at Japanese national universities as Undergraduate Students under the Japanese Government (MEXT) Scholarship Program as follows.

Application periods generally open between April and June 2025, depending on your location.

Applicants can choose from a wide range of majors, including:​

  • Social Sciences & Humanities: Law, Politics, Literature, History, Sociology, Japanese Language, Pedagogy, Economics, Business Administration, Accounting, Financial Economics.​
  • Natural Sciences:
    • Course A: Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, etc.), Applied Chemistry, Biotechnology.​

Who Can Apply?

Selection Process

  2. Second Screening: Conducted by MEXT in Japan, based on the results of the first screening
  3. University Placement: MEXT consults with Japanese universities for direct placement based on the applicant’s preferences and qualifications.​
