A Guide to Scholarships Around the World for African Students

The Challenge

In a report, “Students Online Global Trend – How do prospective students use digital resources to research higher education?” published in July 2014 by topuniversities.com, students reported that finding information on scholarships and funding was the biggest challenge when researching for higher education. Almost 40% of respondents, especially those in Africa, said, the hardest information to find online was scholarships and funding.

Interestingly, several scholarships are available and awarded to students from Africa every year. But most people who need these scholarships are not aware of them.

The Annual Scholarships Digest

To help create further awareness, After School Africa has meticulously selected and compiled the first of its kind, Scholarships Digest to expose African student who want to study in different parts of the world to a wide pool of funding opportunities.

The Digest is a family’s guide with over 300 overseas scholarships, fellowships and grants for students to find and apply for scholarships in US, Canada, UK, Australia, Germany, Netherland, China, Japan, Sweden, Norway and other parts of the world. The scholarships listed in this compilation have been offered consistently at least the past three years; some over 10 years. The scholarship providers range from higher institutions, for profit and non-profit organizations to companies and Government agencies committed to higher education.
