Students who hold a non-EU/EEA passport and have applied for a degree programme at the University of Amsterdam may submit an application for an Amsterdam Merit Scholarship. Requirements for the Amsterdam Merit Scholarship In order to be eligible for this scholarship, regardless of the course or program of study you offer, you must fulfill these requirements. Citizenship: To gain access to applying for this scholarship, you must be a citizen of any country except those from the European Union (EU) and the European Economic Area (EEA). Language Requirement: The primary language of communication is English, and you should be able to communicate effectively in it. If you are a non-English speaker, you are also required to have all your documents translated into English before applying. To be admitted, you must already have been accepted into a one-year full-time master’s degree program at the host university. This means you need to have received acceptance to enroll in the program. English Test Certificate: Provide English test scores (TOEFL or IELTS). Academic prowess: You must be someone with an excellent academic record and intellectual capacity. Benefactor of other scholarships: The scholarship committee does not accept candidates who are benefactors of other European university scholarships. Documents needed for this scholarship The following documents are needed for the Amsterdam Merit Scholarship: Academic Transcript GPA score Two letters of recommendation A motivation letter of a maximum of 500 words explaining the reasons why you chose the master’s degree program and the importance of receiving the scholarship.
