Development Scholarship

Development as an academic program is very versed and interdisciplinary. It cuts across sociology, gender, geography, anthropology, microeconomics, and many others.

A degree in Development studies equips one for easy adaptation to a variety of careers. You are exposed to many choices which may see you working as a researcher, grant writer, an NGO officer, director of programs and liaising for the government in embassies and military bases.

Development scholarships are often meant for candidates to acquire knowledge and learn some skills while studying with the purpose of a positive contribution to the development of their countries after graduation.

1. New Zealand Scholarship is funded in partnership with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade and the New Zealand Aid programme to aid in sustainable development in countries in partnership with New Zealand.
2. Asian Development Bank /Japan Scholarship Program (ADB – JSP). This is a financing program run by the government of Japan. It makes available funds for citizens of ADB’s developing member countries who are qualified to study a postgraduate in economics, science and technology and management courses in universities within the Asia-Pacific region. Students are required to offer contributions to the development of their home countries in all areas upon graduation.
3. Development scholarships are scholarships of a funding opportunity that is geared towards taking a study programme in Development. It can either be a Bachelor’s. Master’s or PHD degree. These scholarships include:
4. DAAD offers one of the best scholarships for Development program to applicants who are from countries in Sub-Saharan Africa who possess proven academic excellence to study MA in Development Studies and MA in Development Management.
5. The SOAS Master’s Scholarship is made available to students to study MA in Development. To qualify, an applicant is expected to have a First-class Honours Degree or its equivalent. Applicants from both UK/EU and overseas are eligible to apply. The scholarship is valued at £14,956.
