This combined MRes/PhD training scheme is designed to give students a solid foundation in economics, starting with a two-year MRes program. Students who complete the MRes successfully with high academic performance will be given priority for admission to the PhD stage. The studentship includes full tuition coverage, an annual bursary, and additional research support throughout the five-year period, with an optional teaching component starting in year two. Economics (MRes and PhD) Type: Graduate Scholarship Who can Apply For The University of Glasgow Graduate Scholarship? Also, eligible applicants must meet the following criteria: Applicants must hold an offer for the MRes Economics program starting in September 2025. Applicants must meet the university's specific entry requirements for the MRes Economics program. Open to international applicants from eligible countries (listed below). Applicants must have a strong academic record, including previous qualifications in economics or a related field. How are Applicants Selected? Academic performance, including the strength of prior qualifications. The research proposal submitted as part of the application. Alignment of the applicant’s research interests with the university’s focus areas. Quality of recommendations from professors. Evidence of potential for academic research and progression to a PhD level. Required Documents: Applicants are also to submit the following documents: Application for the MRes Economics program. Academic transcripts and certificates of previous qualifications. A research proposal outlining intended research (1500 words or more). CV/Resume. Where will the Award be Taken? The award will be taken at University of Glasgow, Scotland, UK.
