Tell Me About the Award: The Global Korea Scholarship (GKS-U) provides full financial support to international students for undergraduate study in South Korea. It includes tuition fees, living expenses, Korean language training, and other benefits. Which Fields are Eligible? All academic fields available at the participating Korean universities are eligible. Type: Fully funded Undergraduate Scholarship. Who can Apply for the Global Korea Scholarship? International students who meet the following: Citizenship: Applicants and their parents must be citizens of a country invited by GKS (dual citizens with Korean nationality are ineligible). Age: Applicants must be under 25 (born after March 1, 2000). Academic: Must have completed high school by March 1, 2025, with a GPA of 80% or higher or be in the top 20% of their class. How are Applicants Selected? The selection process involves three rounds: Document Screening by either the Korean embassy or university. Screening by NIIED (National Institute for International Education). University Selection (for Embassy Track applicants). Which Countries Are Eligible? Citizens of countries invited by the GKS program. The specific list of eligible countries can be found on the GKS official website. Where will the Award be Taken? The award is taken in South Korea, at one of the participating universities. How Many Awards? The number of awards varies yearly, depending on the program's capacity and available slots at Korean universities. What is the Benefit of the Award? Tuition: Full tuition coverage up to 5 million KRW per semester. Korean Language Training: One year of language training. Monthly Allowance: 900,000 KRW for living expenses. Airfare: Round-trip airfare. Health Insurance: Medical coverage during the program. Settlement and Completion Grants: 200,000 KRW upon arrival and 100,000 KRW upon graduation. Proficiency Grant: Additional stipend for high Korean proficiency (TOPIK). How Long Will the Award Last? The scholarship covers one year of language training followed by four years of undergraduate study (depending on the program). How to Apply for the Global Korea Scholarship: Choose an application track (Embassy or University).
