The East Africa Public Leadership Programme equips aspiring and established political and civic leaders across the East African Community (EAC) with the skills, knowledge, and networks needed to drive meaningful change in public service and governance. Tell Me About The Award The East Africa Public Leadership Programme is designed to equip emerging and established political and civic leaders with the skills, knowledge, and networks necessary to drive meaningful change in governance and public service across the East African Community (EAC). The programme focuses on transformational leadership, political competency, and governance systems knowledge, preparing participants for elected political office or public service roles. This programme is open to individuals interested in leadership within: ✔ Politics & Governance ✔ Public Administration ✔ Civic Engagement ✔ Policy & Law ✔ Community Development Type: ✔ Leadership Development Programme✔ Training & Capacity Building Who Can Apply for the East Africa Public Leadership Programme? To qualify, applicants must:✅ Be 18–45 years old✅ Be citizens of East African Community (EAC) countries: Burundi, Democratic Republic of Congo, Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda✅ Have demonstrated leadership in their profession, education, or community✅ Be interested in elected office or public service (prior political experience not required) How are Applicants Selected? Applicants are shortlisted based on leadership potential, commitment to public service, and communication skills. Shortlisted candidates must attend an interview. Finalists must commit to attending all seven in-residence seminar weekends. Which Countries Are Eligible? 🌍 Citizens of the following East African Community (EAC) countries are eligible: ✔ Burundi ✔ Democratic Republic of Congo ✔ Ethiopia ✔ Kenya ✔ Rwanda ✔ Somalia ✔ South Sudan ✔ Sudan ✔ Tanzania ✔ Uganda Where Will the Award Be Taken? 📍 The programme will be conducted across multiple locations in East Africa, with mandatory in-person seminars. How Many Awards? 🎓 Limited slots available – Selection is highly competitive. What is the Benefit of the Award? Comprehensive Leadership Training – Seven in-residence weekend seminars covering workshops, expert-led sessions, case studies, and group projects. Political and Governance Knowledge – Insights into governance systems, policymaking, and election processes. Skill Development – Practical training in campaigning, decision-making, and governance.
