Officially the London School of Economics and Political Science, the London School of Economics is a public university and was founded in 1895 by some members of the Fabian society Beatrice Webb, George Bernard Shaw, Sidney Webb and Graham Wallas for the sole purpose of improving society.

LSE joined the University of London in 1900 and awarded degrees under the University.

Located in Westminster, central London in a place known historically as the Clare market, LSE has a total of 3,300 staff and over 11,000 students where 70% are international students making LSE the second of all world universities with the highest ranking of international students.
