The National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq) in Brasilia, Brazil, and TWAS offer full-time postgraduate fellowships to young scientists from developing countries (other than Brazil) who wish to pursue research towards a PhD at host institutes in Brazil. February 21, 2025 (Extended Deadline) Tell Me About The Fellowship: The TWAS-CNPq Postgraduate Fellowship Programme is a collaboration between The National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq) in Brazil and The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS). This fellowship supports young scientists from developing countries (excluding Brazil) to conduct full-time PhD research at top Brazilian institutions. Which Fields are Eligible? Applicants must: Hold an MSc degree in Natural Sciences. Be a national of a developing country (excluding Brazil). Not hold a visa for permanent or temporary residency in Brazil or a developed country. Provide evidence of intent to return to their home country after the fellowship. Obtain an official acceptance letter from a CAPES-listed Brazilian institution. Demonstrate proficiency in Portuguese, Spanish, or English. Have an updated CV on CNPq’s Lattes Platform. Submit a detailed research plan agreed upon with the host supervisor. Be financially responsible for any accompanying family members. How are Applicants Selected? Selection is based on: Academic qualifications and research potential. Relevance of the research to the chosen field. Feasibility and impact of the research project.
