Taiwan Scholarships is granted by the Ministry of Education to motivate exceptional foreign students including Nigerians to embark degree programs in Taiwan. It offers study chances for a wide range of professions at universities in Taiwan.

Fully Funded Taiwan Scholarships

Below is a list of scholarships available in Taiwan:

• Taiwan International Cooperation and Development Fund (Taiwan ICDF): This scholarship offers a program of higher education scholarships for foreign students who want to study at Taiwan’s partners’ universities. This scholarship proposes for higher education and has expanded undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral programs. The programs are in partnership with prominent partner universities in Taiwan.

Value: This scholarship is for an undergraduate program where each student earns NT $12,000 per month as compensation for food and numerous living expenses, for a Master’s degree program each student reaps NT $15,000 per month as an allowance for food and various living expenses while for the Ph.D. program, each student receives NT $17,000 per month as a grant food and living expenses.

Level: This scholarship is open for undergraduate, masters, and Ph.D. programs

Eligibility: To be eligible for this scholarship, applicants are expected to come from the following countries in Africa (Burkina-Faso, Cote d’Ivoire, Nigeria, Sao Tome and Principe, South Africa, Swaziland), Asia Pacific, West Africa, Caribbean, Central America, South America, Europe can apply for this scholarship.

• National Taiwan University (NTU): This scholarship offers international masters students with outstanding prowess in the 2020 academic session. The university has created this scholarship to promote academic research and strengthen exchanges with the international community by captivating international students to master’s degrees in academic merit.

Value: Each scholar will get NT $250,000 (tuition inclusive) each year during their university registration for a maximum of two years.

Level: Masters

Eligibility: It is available for African students, Asian students and other international students.

• D. Research Assistantship Scholarship: Here, the scholarship is allocated by the National Pingtung University of Science and Technology (NPUST) at the intersection with the Ministry of Education to entice foreign students to study in Taiwan.

Value: A scholar is entitled to a stipend of at least NT $14,000 per month (NT $8,000 from school, NT $6,000 from advisor). Once granted, the assistantship is plausible for up to four years. Living expenses in NPUST, on campus: NT $7,429 per semester (including wifi), off campus: NT $3,000/month- 20,000/6 months and feeding allowance, NT $50-100 per meal.

Level: Ph.D.

Eligibility: It is open for international students.

• Huayu Enrichment Scholarship: For this scholarship, it is established by the Ministry of Education to bolster exchanges between the Republic of China (Taiwan) and the countries specified by the Ministry of Education by enabling foreign students to study Mandarin in Taiwan and deepen his awareness of Taiwanese society, social and cultural developments.

Value: It is a monthly donation of NT 25,000. Its interval is 2 months (summer school), 3 months, 6 months, 9 months, or 12 months.

Level: Undergraduate

Eligibility: To be eligible, students should be from Africa and other foreign International students with the exception of Taiwanese students.

• Taiwan Foundation for Democracy’s Fellowship: This scholarship is founded to strengthen exchanges and cooperation between Taiwanese and foreign non-governmental organizations involved in the development of democracy and human rights in Taiwan, encouraging self-sufficient studies in Taiwan.

Value: It will be evaluated and approved by the Taiwan Foundation for Democracy. An economy class flight taken is given to each candidate.

Level: Ph.D.

Eligible: It is open for international students

• Academia Sinica Taiwan International Graduate Program: Academia Sinica set up the Taiwan Advanced Training Program (TIGP) in collaboration with a consortium of national universities’ key research. The doctoral programs are developed to provide an objective scientific research background for those wishing to conduct expanded research and increase experience in mature international academic environments.

Value: A scholar for this program is awarded a monthly stipend of NT $34,000

Level: It is open for Ph.D. aspirants

Eligibility: This program is accessible for international students

• Distinguished International Graduate Student (DIGS) Scholarship: Here, the scholarship is for master’s students. The examination will be conducted each year by the student’s department and the research advisor to infer the student’s grade for the following year based on his or her educational achievement.

Value: NT $6,000 per month is given to each student for feeding and living expenses.

• Level/Field of Study: This specific Taiwan scholarship is for masters students studying in the following fields: Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Chemical Engineering and Processes, Engineering and Engineering Trades not elsewhere classified, Mathematics, Chemistry, Electricity and Energy, Management and Administration, Mechanical Engineering, Construction and Civil Engineering, Environmental Protection Technology, Physics, Biology, and Biochemistry and Related Science.

Level: It is for those aspiring to do masters.

Eligibility: This scholarship is open for international students.
